War Gods and masculinity – introduction to an exhibition

Artist Paul Krispijn and project manager Nana Blomqvist present and discuss the exhibition Mars – War Gods and masculinity and its background. For a long time, news and discussions about war have felt distant and something that does not concern us, but in recent years our very relationship to war has changed. War in our consciousness is no longer something that just happens somewhere far off. The exhibition explores the connection between patriarchal cultural values, (patriarchal) masculinity, and war. The programme of the opening day of ABOAGORA 2024 will culminate in the opening reception of the outdoor exhibition Mars – War Gods and masculinity on Luostarin Välikatu on the evening of 28 August.
