Petra Piiroinen aloitti Aboagoran uutena projektitutkijana maaliskuussa. Tiimiä kesän aikana täydentää myös harjoittelija Sonja Korhonen. Tiivis työtahti huipentuu elokuussa uuden seitsenvuotisen ohjelmakauden aloitukseen.

The program of Aboagora: “Mars, the Bringer of War” 28–30.8.2024 explores war and the red planet through the means of science and art
The science and art event Aboagora's theme this year is Mars, the Bringer of War. The AGORA-speakers of the event this year are the writer-journalist Thella Johnson, the secretary-general of the Global Campus of Human Rights Manfred Nowak, and researcher-artist Susanna Hast and researcher Noora Kotilainen. The program's keynotes are free of charge and open to everyone. Mars, the Bringer of War is the first event of Aboagora's new seven-year The Planets -season.
Avant Aboagora: Gustav Holst, planeetat ja avaruudellinen populaarimusiikki
Vuoden 2024 Avant Aboagora syväluotaa avaruudellista musiikkikulttuuria. Aboagora-tapahtuman varaslähdössä Sibelius-museolla 17.5.2024 tutustutaan alkavaan Planeetat-ohjelmakauteen ja musiikin kosmisiin ulottuvuuksiin dosentti Kimi Kärjen johdolla. Ilta huipentuu maailmankaikkeusmusiikkiyhtye Astro Can Caravanin konserttiin.

The ABOAGORA Retreat VII: De/Colonial Present invites MA Arts Students and Doctoral Candidates in the arts, humanities, and sciences to reflect together on how the living legacies of colonial histories play a role in the conflicts raging today and, on the other hand, how decolonial practices propose alternative ways out of these battles over territories and words, resources and rights. The Retreat takes place August 25–27 on the island of Seili in the Turku archipelago.
Aboagora etsii projektitutkijaa!
Turun yliopiston historian, kulttuurin ja taiteiden tutkimuksen laitoksessa on haettavana Aboagoran projektitutkijan määrä- ja osa-aikainen (75 %) työsopimussuhteinen tehtävä ajalle 1.2.2024–31.12.2028. Työ jatkuu mahdollisesti myös vuosina 2029 ja 2030.

The ABOAGORA Pre-symposium VI: Edges of Knowing invited Doctoral Researchers in the arts, humanities, and sciences and MA Arts Students to reflect together on what haunts the systems of knowledge and the limits of the thinkable at this time of omnicrisis, uncertainty and change.

Tiede- ja taidetapahtuma Aboagora ”Void” Turussa 23.–25.8. – tule kuulemaan, mitä kaikkea tyhjyydestä voi ammentaa! Tiede- ja taidetapahtuma Aboagoran teemana on tänä vuonna tyhjyys. Tapahtuman pääesiintyjiä ovat fyysikko ja tieteenfilosofi Karen Barad (kuvassa), filosofi Hans Ruin sekä historioitsija Dolly Jørgensen. Ohjelman pääpuheenvuorot sekä kaksi konserttia ovat maksuttomia ja avoimia kaikille.
